VIRAL HEPATITIS

Viruses that primarily infect the liver include hepatitis A, B, C, delta hepatitis, and hepatitis E viruses. Their characteristics, paths of infection, and clinical features are not necessarily the same. But they all induce infection of the liver, which occur primarily due to immunological deficiency. Acute infection of hepatitis B, C, or delta may lead to chronic liver diseases, such as liver cirrhosis, which later on has a great chance to develop into cancer.

TCM (TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE) DIAGNOSIS

In the view point of Traditional Chinese Medicine, hepatitis infections are caused by the pathogenic factors such as dampness and heat, which develops into toxic material that cannot be eliminated or damaged by the body, especially when the body's immune function is inadequate. The persistent course of the disease usually causes harm to the body's vital energy, which in turns cause more damage to the immune system. Opposite of the expensive cost the side effects of western drug treatment, acupuncture and herbal therapies aid hepatitis patients naturally without harmful side effects.

TRANSMISSION OF HEPATITIS
Viral hepatitis is usually transmitted in blood or blood products from an individual with active disease or a carrier. Transfer may occur with shared needles, (we use disposable needles in our clinic), during sexual intercourse, by accidental spillage of specimens in the laboratory, and by transfusion of blood products. It may also be transferred by virus-contaminated food or water.

PREVENTION OF VIRAL HEPATITIS

It is important to have the knowledge of prevention prior to exposure to hepatic virus. Preventive measures such as washing hands, sanitize food and beverage utensils, follow a healthy and clean diet, and receiving acupuncture treatment regularly should minimize the risk against viral hepatitis. Vaccination is effective in prevention against the disease for high risk groups such as hospital employees, Since hepatitis B has a long incubation period of 6 weeks to 6 months, it is important for those who suspect themselves at risk of transmission to be examined by a physician immediately.
